Video Games, IKEA Style? Count Us In
Ah, IKEA. These clever Swedish bastards and their functional, affordable and fashionable furnishings are a worldwide phenomenon. Sure, their own stores can be laid out like Satan’s own rabbit warrens at times, but I’ll excuse that. Because it’s freaking IKEA. And you don’t eff with IKEA.
There is nothing –freaking nothing– you can’t find in IKEA. A fancy-ass leather sofa with a ridiculous product name (DAGSTORP)? They’ve got you covered. A shitty scented candle with an equally ridiculous Swedish product name (FLÄRDFULL)? Check. From meatballs to bargain light bulbs (and damn, these are some cheap light bulbs right here), these guys have it all.
Almost all, I should say. Because when there’s something they don’t do, like video games, they really don’t do it. They eff it up in style.
Above is Reddit user voodoocode’s snap of IKEA’s placeholder games. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve been awaiting a killer app for the BeatBOX 0.1 since I bought the damn thing. The Pimps could be that game. But I’m particularly intrigued by Grand-Ma’s Auto. If it lets me fulfill my lifelong gaming dream of performing 3mph drive-bys and drug deals on an OAP’s mobility scooter, I can die a happy man.
