Cara Delevingne might be known as the next Kate Moss, but it is a title she does not want.

The 22-year-old model with the most famous eyebrows on the runway, who as landed campaigns with Chanel, Burberry and Mulberry is ready for the next chapter in her life: taking on Hollywood.

“I basically gave up on acting, because trying to get an agent was impossible. Everyone said, ‘You’re just a model,’ ” she told the Wall Street Journal. “…once I had my mind set that I was going to do this modeling thing, I really wanted to beat it, if that makes sense. Win it.”

And win it she has, with over 11 million Instagram followers, Delevingne acknowledges that her social media presence has led her to her “supermodel” status, and has opened many doors for her. And while she is set to appear in Paper Towns and The Suicide Squad, among many other films in the next few years, it was not her social media following that gave her those roles.

“We went into the audition with skepticism that she would be right, but her performance grabbed us,” says Paper Towns producer Wyck Godfrey, who also oversaw the casting of Woodley in The Fault in Our Stars.

Delevingne knows the stereotypes that are placed on models who take on the acting world, like Cindy Crawford and Gisele Bundchen. “I don’t want to be that cliché: model-slash-actress,” Delevingne said.

Along with acting, Delevingne also revealed a passion for music, which we got a sneak peek of in her latest Chanel campaign alongside Pharrell. Whatever her passion, Delevingne know it is up to her to prove a model can do more than look pretty and walk down a runway.

“I want to prove that you can be anything you want to be,” she said. “I love working, and I love what I do. If I f— it up now, it’s all my fault.”

Here are more highlights from her interview with the WSJ:

On her modelling career: “I ended up feeling a bit empty. Fashion is about what’s on the outside, and that’s it. There’s no searching, it’s just creating pretty things.”

On advice Rihanna gave her after losing a role: ““Everything happens for a reason. You are going to call me back up in a week or two, and you are going to say to me, ‘You are right.’ ”

On reading tabloid stories about herself: “It makes me never want to set foot outside ever again,” says Delevingne. “I used to read them and torture myself.”

On her music: “I usually write when I am feeling sad or angry, or lost or confused,” she says. “It’s not like when I’m feeling good.”

On finding her inner peace: “I suddenly realized I’m peaceful inside, and I’ve never had that. Even when I was growing up.” (“I was a terrifying child,” she recalls. “I looked like Chucky with bleach-blond hair. I had night terrors, and I would go around the house turning on all the lights and screaming like people were being murdered.”)
