Things aren’t looking too good over at J. Crew.

The retailer’s quarterly reports have been revealed, and according to the Wall Street Journal, things are going on a downward slope. As a result of slipping sales, store traffic and profitability, the brand is expecting to write down the carrying value of the company by $341 million.

The disheartening news comes after the company experiencing a range of complaints – sizing, styling, quality and lackluster options – from loyal customers of the brand. And though they seem to have fallen short, J. Crew is working to get a hold of the situation by taking it back to what the label knows best: iconic classics.

On a recent conference call, Mickey Drexler, chief executive officer of J. Crew Group Inc., stressed that the brand’s “iconic classics” are coming back full force, Racked reported. Essentially this means that soon we’ll be seeing more separates like tees, knits, and denim options that J. Crew has always been known for. But according to the brand, some focus has been taken away from women’s clothing and there’s a clear reason why.

Racked continued to report that J. Crew’s sloppiness may have come from Drexler devoting more time to Madewell – who’s sales have jumped 33% to $61.9 million. “The love our customers have for us is extraordinary. I think we clearly got sloppy when you miss the fundamentals that you need to have,” Drexler stated.

If you ask us, the smart move is one that is much needed for the brand, especially with such a devoted fashion audience to tend to. And while we’re well aware that our favorite classics won’t appear overnight, we’ve gathered a few signature separates that are necessary for any wardrobe.

Check out some of our classic picks from the label on the pages ahead.

In the bustling streets of Southeast, Washington DC, rapper Kazon’s latest offering, “My Brother,” emerges as a symphony of redemption and advocacy, resonating with audiences far and wide.

Kazon’s path to musical stardom has been fraught with obstacles, from brushes with the law to a brush with death that left him scarred but unbroken. Through it all, he credits his resilience to the belief that every setback is an opportunity for growth.

With “My Brother,” Kazon takes on the role of a lyrical mentor, offering guidance and solace to Black youth grappling with violence and systemic oppression. Through heartfelt verses and melodic refrains, he shares his own journey of redemption, using his past mistakes as a catalyst for change.

At its core, “My Brother” is a call to action—a plea for unity, love, and advocacy within the Black community. Kazon’s harmonious tale serves as a reminder that through solidarity and advocacy, we can effect real change and pave the way for a brighter future.

As the final notes of “My Brother” fade into the ether, Kazon’s message lingers: every trial is a testament to our strength, and every mistake is a chance to do better.
