On the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week, designers caught a little bit of yellow fever.
It was the bold pop of color on the runways of everyone from Stella McCartney to Giambattista Valli and Hermes, but each with their signature approach to fashion.
At McCartney, it was a more sporty vibe with yellow plaid and pleated maxi dresses, mixed with frayed denim ensembles and yellow pops of color on the handbags and scarves the models held. The best yellow moment of her runway was a mesh gown with shell-shaped cutouts throughout.
At Giambattista Valli, it was all about the babydoll dress, but with Valli’s signature flair and opulence. Bold patterns, floral embroidery and polka dots reigned supreme. But it was the final look of the collection, a mustard colored gown worn by Gigi Hadid that closed the show with a bang, and thanks to a low-cut top, showed off her curves and silenced all her body shamers.
Hermes continued the color play with a collection that started completely monochromatic, but merged seamlessly into bright blue, red and cintrene pieces. The best part: the trainers the models wore to close the show.
Saint Laurent kept it grunge priness, with models mixing Wellington boots and tiaras. With the return of Agyness Deyn, Hedi Slimane also reimagined the slip dress we have been seeing everywhere, some with off-shoulder sleeves, others backless. Yellow for Saint Laurent were the gold sequined mini dresses and blazers interspersed in the rocker chic collection.
Sonia Rykiel also embraced the color to the max on her runway.
