Sunny Surff – “Special” (Music Video)

After drawing attention with buzzing singles, like “Don’t Hurt Me,” “Slow Jamz” and “Hold It Down,” Sunny Surff, the rising New Jersey record artist, enters 2021 with her first release called “Special.” Backed by a Secret Society Motion Pictures video, Surf remembers her brother and relives the tragedy through various point-of-views and heartbreaking storytelling. As you watch, feel free to enlist the single on your streaming playlist, available now via SSL Entertainment.

“The song “Special” is significant to me because it’s one my first single dropping after going through one of the hardest times of my life last year,” Sunny describes. “I lost everything and had to start all over. The things I am talking about in the song came from the soul after coming out of that dark place. That was a time I’ll never forget for the rest of my life and that song will always be a constant reminder for me to never go back there and to stay on my toes and keep going hard until I get to where I want to be.”

The Plainfield native’s music is swirled with based on true story verses. “I got into music after asking for a diary for Christmas because a lot of girls in my elementary school days had one, my daily journeys turned into writing raps. In 5th grade after we had a class assignment to write a poem about what we thought the world. When asked to read it back I rapped it. From there I started practicing rapping to myself in a bathroom mirror after watching a few smack DVDs with my mother’s boyfriend.”

“Special” is expected to build anticipation for an official full-length Sunny Surff debut in 2021. For daily updates on the album and everything Sunny Surff, follow her on Instagram. After streaming “Special,” you can deep dive into her complete catalog, available now on Spotify.
