Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper? What was your journey like?

The first time I went natural I transitioned and the second time I Big chopped.

Had you always embraced your texture?

No, when I was younger I was teased for having “good hair” therefore, I wanted my hair to more kinky so I did not like the my hair.

How did family and friends react to your decision to go natural? What was your response to them?
I went natural twice. The first time my family had mixed feelings. Many wanted to know why I cut my hair and many thought I had a nice curl pattern but wanted me to keep it pressed. The second time I went natural when I big chopped most of my family was upset that I cut my hair even lower this time. A few of them enjoy my short fade but most of the women ask me to grow my hair out.

Describe your hair (fine or coarse, thin or thick, highly porous, low, etc.)
My hair is soft and thick with 3c/4a curls when it grows out.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to your hair?
The craziest thing I have ever done to my hair is dye it red.

What’s your biggest hair related regret?
My biggest hair regret is relaxing my hair after the first time I went natural.
What’s your current hair routine? How often do you wash, condition, and style? Favorite products! Deets!
I wash my hair once a week. I love coconut oil, shea butter, Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and their shampoo.

What’s your favorite hairstyle? Where do you get hairstyle inspiration?
My favorite hairstyle is my low fade, it make me feel sexy.
Who is your curl crush?
My hair crush is Solange, I love how she twitches it up.
How do you maintain your hair at night?
Use a wave cap or any satin material.

How do you maintain healthy length?
Keeping my hair moisturized.
What’s the best thing about being natural?
I can be active, dance, swim etc. and I do not have to worry about sweating out my wrap.
