About Lil Sriracha’s Debut Single ‘Sayonara’

“A no-nonsense k-swiss approach on ‘Arky’ that comes across more as a free-styling one-way conversation, and which strikes a chord with fans almost immediately.”
– Tone Deaf Magazine

GRID unveils four new top artists from Outer South East Melbourne

Lil Sriracha’s single “Arky” will be accompanied by a music video visual for audiences to get to know the vibrant and unexpected character of Lil Sriracha. ‘Arky’ was made with support from G.R.I.D which is an independent grassroots community program supporting local musicians and was made in collaboration with the eclectic powerhouse Ecca Vandal and Kid Not. Lil Sriracha’s powerful delivery reflects the definition of the new Australian slang word: ARKY – an adjective used to describe someone who has a tendency to instigate brawls.
Lil Sriracha is a Vietnamese female rapper, determined to represent the Melbourne music scene in an increasingly diverse industry. Her personality defies typical Asian stereotypes and her music represents her passion in educating against racial discrimination, sexism and plain ignorance. Lil Sriracha cites musical influences such as Rico Nasty, Lauryn Hill and Kanye West.
From beginning to end, the song progressively intensifies, leaving listeners with tight chests by the end of the track. Although the overall tone is threatening, Lil Sriracha is not afraid to show her personality by sprinkling in comical lines and analogies. By channelling aggression and fury, Lil Sriracha provides a stark contrast to the Asian female stereotype of being submissive. A written piece on medium.com describes ‘Arky’ as a “heavy and aggressive track that’s bending the audience’s ribs”.
