Diane Kruger’s Recent Red Hair Was a (Kinda Hilarious) Accident

Published

on

Diane Kruger’s angelically golden highlights are the stuff hair colorists dream of and train for — and often the result of many hours in a salon chair. And since a hilarious (and oh-so-relatable) mishap with a drugstore gloss turned her red a few weeks ago, she’s going to be logging a few more hours in that chair … and may never let anyone but the most anointed hair color gurus touch her locks again.

When asked about her recent foray into redhead-ism, which she showed off at at the God’s Love We Deliver event in N.Y.C. a few weeks ago (below), the actress confessed that the mane change was due to an accidental at-home hair disaster that left her natural blonde strands darker than ever.

“Oh, my God,” Kruger exclaimed to Allure. “I hadn’t colored my hair in six months, and I had been away working for two months. I’m in New York, and it looked a little dull, so I just thought, I’ll go to CVS and buy a gloss. Only it turned my hair a dark mud brown.”

But luckily, the star, who has hair-fixing friends in high places, reached out to the best of the best to fix her color catastrophe.

“I called anybody that I know in New York who could help me. Serge Normant literally saved me this morning,” she said. “And now it’s still slightly red, but it’s getting better. I have to keep going back. The woman at the salon who is helping me said it’s going to take three visits.”

Even though Kruger’s orangey-red dye job wasn’t a part of her initial plan, we have to admit she pulls it off well.
