The concept of youth goes hand and hand with Hip-hop as a whole. From the beginning the culture has largely been defined by what’s going on from those 25 and under. For better or worse they’ve always been the spark for what trends will soon come. In the case of 19-year old Eyezhic Haze, he is looking to set trends rarely seen from someone his age in the near future.
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Eyezic Haze is already making a huge impact in an area not very known for its rap scene. He got his start about 5 years ago rhyming with friends for fun, but little did he know it would become a business. Two months ago that became a reality as Eyezic, born Isaac Robinson, became the founder of FTY Promotions. Through his newly minted company he has since been able to put on several showcases highlight not only his talent, but others around his area. A feat that should not be taken lightly from someone at his age.
Beyond his business savvy is a gift to craft music with a sound all it’s own. While listening to an advance copy of his debut album “InAHaze” I was wowed by how developed his music was already. Eyezhic Haze states that he has been putting in work to craft the project, which does not currently have a release date, for well over a year and a half. From concepts to flow patterns, the time put in is glaringly obvious. The rising talent thinks about what he is going to say and understands the need to put a message in his songs. That’s a great quality to have.
Throughout my time studying and speaking with Eyezic Haze one thing that always stood out was his awareness and confidence. He is well aware of what’s going on and how he wants his life to be. With the type of foreshadowed sight, skill, and eagerness he possesses I believe it will only be a matter of time before he is a household name.
