Finding The Fun In Music With Jdiggs Tha Prodigy

Patrick Jordan Diggs, better known by his stage name Jdiggs Tha Prodigy is a Rapper/Songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas. Raised in a heavily religious household, he got his start in music in the church choir. He comes from a family of singers, although he himself does not sing much. He first got his start in rapping free styling at house parties with his friends. It wasn’t until his late friend Sam “Sammy G” Garcia took him to a studio session in 2009 that he first recorded a prewritten verse to the “Uptown” beat by Drake , Bun B and Lil Wayne . He has often been told that he sounds like a southern version of E-40 , or even a young, “less angry” Ice Cube . He would prefer to say that he just sounds like himself, but comparisons will always come whether he wants them or not. Having many different influences, he has a wide range of artistic ability and is willing to do anything that he wants to do with the sole purpose of just being heard. Anything from hip-hop to pop to just plain out side of the box style tracks, there is something for everyone to like in this man’s repertoire.

After the release of his album R.P.G. Repent, Progress & Growth in late 2019, Jdiggs Tha Prodigy set out on a mission to rediscover the fun in making music. Having been bogged down by the politics and the antics of the scene he was surrounded by, he was forced to take a step back and make another plan of attack. Thus began the work on his newest project, 4700 with first single being “Tha Prodigy”. For this new project, he’s been able to find the fun in making music all over again.

“I’d like to think that I’ve got a song for all moods on this project. I want people to be able to use some of the lines as captions and status’ on social media. I want the listener to enjoy the music and relate to it without feeling like it’s reminding them of their own problems.”

For this new single he’s enlisted the help of Deluzion Productions, trying out different delivery methods, new cadences and even a bit of singing, Jdiggs has really exhibited an immense amount of Growth.

“I send Huck a new track almost every day. When I get an idea, I have to get it on record as quickly as possible even if it’s just a rough draft. Sometimes I feel like it might be too much, but he never tells me to stop sending them so I’m gonna keep sending them haha.”

Turning his focus to visuals, he’s teamed up with Kenny Varner of Blurry Vision Films to help bring the visions to life.

“All these years I’ve been putting out music, I never got around to shooting music videos. My motto has always been ‘I just want to be heard’ and I stuck to that so much to where almost no one could put a face to my name and sound. I know that definitely held me back from progressing in my career, but now it’s something I can mark off my to-do list.”

His previous releases and newest single has already assisted him in leaving fans wanting more from him. Trust and believe that if you haven’t found your favorite JDiggs Tha Prodigy track yet, it is in the process of being written or recorded at any given time.

You will catch some country, but I feel like this Iconic R&B sound is something soulful that the listeners could gravitate to, all the time when trying to find that special person who is their soulmate. I also went with the title because I feel like “Soulmate” was an amazing addition to my discography. I love everything around the name SOUL, whether it’s “SOUL NOT FOR SALE” or “SOULMATE”. My listeners know that they’re still in my book of discography and soulmate is just another chapter for the listeners and the lovers to connect with me. The genre borrowed from multiple forms, but I would definitely say this is a new chapter of R&B/Melodic Rap, Being that Melodic Rap is a new genre for the new generation. It is a Sound that I felt was perfect to write this musical letter to connect. – My key influences I would have to say would be Love, Heartbreak, Triumph,Fast Living & Nightlife battling to find myself in who I am as an artist while dealing with love finding the balance.
