Jackson Indie Music Week (@jxnindiemusic) kicks off their submission period for aspiring performers

Published

on

One of the fastest rising music festivals in the country, Jackson Indie Music Week, is officially looking for talent to showcase during the week of January 8-15th. After turning out a crowd of over 1,500 attendees in the initial JIMW early 2016, sights are set to make it an even greater event with the expansion to out-of-state artists. That’s right, as of today anyone in the country can submit and get their shot at the burgeoning festival, which is headlined by live exhibitions of the vast indie music and arts scene.Creatives home-grown in the Magnolia State and abroad in Rock, Hip Hop, EDM, Blues, Independent Film and Video are graciously invited to submit until the November 15th deadline.

Aside from the performances, selected artists will have the chance to hear from guest speakers, attend pop-up vendors, gain media opportunities, and network at the music industry panel making the event a must for any up-and-comers. The aim is to grant an oft-underappreciated Mississippi scene the chance to spotlight their skills in a highly-developed setting, while also introducing outsiders to the bubbling talent, growing businesses and hospitable aura of Jackson, MS. With last year’s event spanning over 12 venues throughout the city, it’s a great way for anyone outside of the state lines to familiarize yourself with the area and leave your musical imprint with industry figures throughout the southeast.

City of Jackson Marketing Specialist and one of the event’s founders, Brad Franklin, has stated that he envisions Jackson Indie Music Week’s eventual growth to be one that could someday rival A3C or SXSW. 2016’s return of over 50 artistic participants in just a 2 month planning period shows the immense potential for JIMW to rise to that level in the future. If you are an artist or film-maker and want to take part as the next chapter unfolds in the festival’s legacy, make sure you read all requirements below and follow the affair’s official FacebookTwitter and Instagram pages for more information.
