Jennifer Lawrence Recycles the ‘Jewels in Her Hair’ Trick for Another Hunger Games Premiere

Published

on

Jennifer Lawrence has had a Hunger Games film premiere every year since 2012, and her style has evolved and changed (to say nothing of her hair) as time has gone on. But for her final tour, Lawrence returned to a showstopping styling trick that put her on the map as “one to watch” during her first go-around: weaving a necklace into her updo.

In 2012, the Girl on Fire blazed on the scene in a jawdropping gold lamé Prabal Gurung gown with a and fishtail hem. To complement the look, her stylist at the time Mark Townsend pulled her ponytail into a messy low ponytail, braided two glittering Jennifer Behr headbands into it and twisted it all into a bun. When Lawrence turned around, her glitzy, gilded updo earned as many gasps as the sheer back of the gown — and inspired countless holiday party hairstyles at the same time.

For the Paris premiere of the last film in the series, Lawrence revisited the idea. Her current pro Jenny Cho played up the angelic vibe of her Dior Haute Couture gown with a crown braid that wrapped around her head — and for an extra halo effect, she threaded a Dana Rebecca Designs “Jennifer by the Yard” diamond-and-gold chain through the plait. And because Lawrence is never too overdone or perfect, she pulled a few pieces out for a slightly undone vibe.
