Peyton List on Her Fall Fashion Must-Haves, Becoming a Red Carpet Risk-Taker and More!

Peyton List is one seriously successful 17-year-old. She’s an actress, the current face of Bongo and now, she’s adding one more creative role to her résumé: stylist!

Even though the Disney darling has been in her Bongo role since summer, List says she’s still shocked she was asked to be a part of the stylish family, following in the footsteps of fellow brand ambassadors Vanessa Hudgens, Lucy Hale and AnnaSophia Robb, to name a few.

“Oh my gosh, I always saw the Bongo girl while flipping through magazines when I was younger and was always waiting for the next one to come out,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I was always eagerly waiting. When I got the offer to be a Bongo girl, I was so ecstatic, I couldn’t believe it.”

And in her new role, she had the opportunity to dress other young girls in all of her favorite looks from the current collection at an event hosted at a Sears storefront in Torrance, California, on Saturday.

“I styled three [girls], but then they had friends [come] along, so we couldn’t leave them out,” she said. “In total, we ended up styling six girls. Bella was the most fun to dress because we helped solved a life crisis — she said jeans are always too long for her, so we just rolled them up, and made them super cute and then threw a moto jacket with some fringe and one of the floppy hats. It looked really good on her!”

All of the pieces List picked out for her lucky fans, like Bella, were favorites from the star’s personal closet, she said.

“My style is kind of like rocker-chic,” she explained. “I love [wearing] leather jackets, boots and chunky sweaters for fall. Bongo really fits into my style right now, especially for this season.”

Specifically, List says she’s currently coveting everything cozy for the cooler weather. “Definitely my turtlenecks, my sweaters, blazers and jackets and scarfs,” she said. “I love fall! Fall is like one of my favorite seasons.”

And it’s because of her ability to take chances with her wardrobe, especially on the red carpet, that she was named as one of PEOPLE’s Red Carpet Risk-Takers in this year’s annual Style special. So of course, we had to ask how she reacted once she learned about her stylish new title.

“I freaked out — I was so excited,” she told PEOPLE. “I remember one of my friends brought the magazine over and put it in my dressing room, and I just walked in and saw it on the page — I was so happy! I always loved [PEOPLE]. I remember stealing my mom’s PEOPLE magazine when I was younger, so to see that was so cool to me.”

She added: “It’s just verifying everything I’m doing, which I love. It’s really cool.”
