Beyonce’s latest single “Bow Down/I Been On” has been generating much controversy since it debuted earlier this week. The latest critic to speak out against the explicit track is conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, who took the singer to task for what he felt was a betrayal of her earlier, female-empowering persona.

“Their (Destiny’s Child) songs were attempts to inspire young women not to take any grief from men. She’s done a 180. Beyoncé, now having been married, having been impregnated and giving birth to Blue Ivy, she’s going out on a new tour,” Rush ranted. “And they may as well call it the ‘Bow Down B*tch’ Tour. She’s got a new song … a total 180. Beyoncé is now saying, ‘Go ahead and put up with it.’ Because she married a rich guy. She’s even calling herself ‘Mrs. Carter’ on the tour. She now understands it’s worth it to bow down.”

Many have pointed out that Limbaugh is misinterpreting the lyric, which is more of a dismissal to her rivals than it is a declaration of women to submit to men.
