Oympia Le Tan’s Fall Winter 2016 art-inspired collection got us thinking about some of our favorite fashion muses from the art world. You’ve seen them. Perhaps you’re at a gallery opening or museum party and there they are impeccably dressed, fashionable yet not particularly too trendy with a striking red lip, a sculptural necklace or an LBD that didn’t come from any store you’ve been to.

These are the artists, curators and art enthusiasts have an eye for fashion and style. There’s something about a passion and interest in the arts, creativity and self expression that leads to some of the most covetable looks around.

Whether it be a literal work of art or just any person, place or thing that you find visually interesting, let the word around you motivate some of your style choices. You can use unexpected visual queues to create ideas for the next outfit. Try working a new color combination or structural shape inspired by architecture for instance. You can even look for clothes with an artistic print.

Embracing color whether it be a little or a lot can also key create a vibe fit for the museum.

Color, be it in small doses like a pop here an there or even as simple as a signature color framed glasses or a bold red lip, is something of a staple for women in art. Legends like Yayoi Kusama are rarely seen without a crimson pucker.

Embracing one color in a monochromatic palette is another way to use color. Take artist Jeanette Hayes and her go to black. A simpler palette can also make it easier to try out high low hemlines or more voluminous shapes like the overblown shoulders in recent collections from Jacquemus and Vetements.

Try developing a signature look.

Creatives have clear point of view visually whether it be in their wardrobe or their work. For some it may be a plain t-shirt, complete seemingly lack of effort where as others it’s architectural shapes or bold colors and mixed prints. Having a signature something you can go to that feels you every time and will stand out as fashion trends change.  JiaJia Fei’s sleek cut and sheath dresses are as chic as they are timeless.

Last but not least don’t overthink it. Authenticity over contrived, forced attempts at attention will always win. Whether it’s big dramatic style or something a bit more subtle, what makes gallery-inspired style attainable stems from the confidence of being genuine to your tastes and interests.

Not everyone can be a winner. Detroit native and hip-hop sensation 42 Dugg is back with a fiery new single, Win Wit Us. The track, a precursor to his highly anticipated album 4eva Us, Neva Them, showcases Dugg’s signature style and lyrical prowess. In the brand new single, produced by FLEXONTHEBEAT, TyMaz, and Marshak, Dugg calls out those who try to ride his wave without putting in the work, cementing his stance in the rap game. The release is accompanied by an official music video directed by Counter Point, where Dugg and his crew dominate the streets and clubs of Detroit, visually reinforcing his message of loyalty and resilience.
