Artist spotlight: Meet Diop’s Chord

Mixing afro-pop, r&b, and rap this Brooklyn born artist is ready to cement his legacy.

Over the past few years, Afro-pop/Rap has seen a resurgence of sorts in the American music scene. That’s not to take away from its cultural influence but due to its increased presence on social media through Tiktok and Instagram, the afro scene is seeing a world of new fans. With that said, I would like to introduce Diop’s Chord.

Diop’s chord was born Lamar Coard in Brooklyn, New York. He wears his African heritage and spirituality proud and uses it to influence his musical direction when making music. He blends this love for his heritage with traditional Pop and R&B vibes.

His Single “WSW” or “What She Wants” is a Afro pop smash that would go crazy in any club or event and have the crowd dancing the whole time it’s played; “Beside of me” is an instant radio smash. His musical discography isn’t extensive with only two songs to his credit right now but both songs are definitely fire and worth your playlist!

If your new to Afro music and want an easily digestible introduction to the sound and style Diop’s Chord is the perfect artist for you. He will have you dancing and whining like a pro in no time. Make sure you follow Diop’s Chord on all social media and streaming platforms and stay tuned because he has a new video dropping very soon and new music as well!
