A Texas family is horrified over a viral video showing their daughter getting sucker-punched and beaten by another girl. The brutal clip showed 17-year-old ShaMichael Manuel getting pummeled by a schoolmate named Sharkeisha, who struck her in the face when she’s wasn’t looking and then hit and kicked her while she was on the ground.
The Harris County sheriff’s office said the foulmouthed bully was arrested last Thursday on charges of assault with bodily injury. They didn’t identify her because she’s a minor.
The Nov. 19 attack allegedly started because of a dispute over a boy, ShaMichael’s family told Houston’s KHOU-TV. The sickening footage has since gone viral, inspiring snarky, shark-themed memes and a popular Twitter hashtag.
“The video’s just going and going,” ShaMichael’s mother, Olevia Henderson, told KHOU-TV. “They’re making jokes, and they’re taunting. They’re glorifying the girl Sharkeisha, but they’re taunting my daughter at the same time.”
The vicious beating left her with a black eye and a split lip. Her mother told KHOU-TV she’s had trouble seeing out of one eye.
