Billie Holiday Hologram to Perform at the Apollo

Billie Holiday is the latest artist to get the hologram treatment, The New York Times reports. Hologram USA—the company behind Chief Keef’s short-lived hologram concert—will bring the Holiday hologram to the Apollo Theater around Thanksgiving for the first in a series of interactive performances.

With permission from Holiday’s estate, Hologram USA have combed through audio archives to create a show that will allow Holiday’s hologram to answer questions from the audience and provide history on the Apollo. Naturally, she will also sing some songs.

The Apollo have signed an exclusive two-year deal with Hologram USA and are planning regular performances to supplement their daytime educational programming.

Holiday performed at the Apollo over 30 times. She made her Apollo debut when she was 19.
