Cindy Crawford’s new book “Becoming” is all about encouraging women to have a good self-esteem at all ages, but even the world-class supermodel can get a little bit jealous.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Crawford opened up about everything from her mole to the models of today. When asked about women and self-criticism, she used her now iconic mole as an example of accepting your differences.
“I kept my mole when I was in high school and that was a big choice,” Crawford said. “And then look it ended up being something that made people remember me. So I guess I try to live by that.”
However, even the 49-year-old model feels the pressure of aging like the next women, and she is not against plastic surgery, even if she hasn’t had any. “It’s just personal,” Crawford said. “I don’t judge.”
And when it comes to this generation of social media models like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, Crawford is very honest about feeling a little bit envious of the group.
“I’m a little bit jealous that they have social media because I think that through the use of social media, they are better able to help shape their own image,” she said. “I think my generation of models, we were perceived the way we were…through pictures. I think that more and more social media presence is what helps you start your own clothing line or campaign, or end up on a cover of a magazine.”
Despite this, Crawford knows her place in the echelons of supermodels.
“No one is better at Cindy Crawford than Cindy Crawford.” Touché.
