After watching Raf Simon’s Dior Pre-Fall 2015, we’re speechless. Officially, Esprit Dior Tokyo 2015 Collection and titled “Megalopolis,” Simons realizes a wardrobe for the fashion futurist and goes above and beyond (into the future) for the off-season collection. The location of the show informs the core of the inspiration, “embracing yet going beyond the futuristic metropolis, to the fantasy and reality of the sprawling city of style that is Tokyo.” The result is a smart and innovative collection utilizing intricate tailoring, clever fabric mixing, and a reimagined neo-mod look.
Showing a “utilitarian glamour,” Simons conveys the look with sequined turtlenecks layered under wool dresses, patent leather outerwear with prominent zippers, and boots fit for Brigitte Bardot in space— all topped off with braids a la Princess Leia.
