Hang It Up: Fashion Words That Are In Retirement

In a modern, social media-driven world aged terms and jokes are quickly pointed out. The internet as many note “has no chill” and no one –especially in the fashion world– wants to be caught using old slang.

It’s so passé.

To circumvent you looking crazy or feeling out of the mix, we’ve compiled a couple words that retired years ago. Not only are they not used, but you’d sound elementary if you stated them in casual conversation.

From “werk” to “fierce” there’s an abundance of trend-happy terms that have no substance in a world where a new word is literally created each day, shared and added to Webster’s Dictionary. It’s a ever-changing environment and these words had their time.

See what these retired fashion words are below and on the next pages.
