Jessica Alba’s Company Sued For Not Being ‘Honest’

Jessica Alba founded the Honest Company to bring all-natural and organic products to families with young children.

Earlier this summer, users of her Honest brand sunscreen took over Twitter, claiming the sunscreen was burning rather than protecting their children in the sun. Now, the Honest Company is facing a lawsuit stemming from those allegations.

According to PEOPLE magazine, the lawsuit claims that Alba’s Honest Company “deceptively and misleadingly” labels and markets its products as being “natural.” It also goes on to claim that a number of products contain “unnatural” and “synthetic” ingredients, and calls its sunscreen products “ineffective.”

On attack on her products, not just the sunscreen, the lawsuit calls out Honest Hand Soap, Honest Diapers and Honest Multi-Surface Cleaner.

While the Honest Company has not issued a response to this lawsuit, it did speak out after the allegations against their sunscreen surfaced, saying, “The Honest Company is committed to providing safe and effective products, and we take all consumer feedback very seriously.”

Alba also spoke out on a blog post, writing, “As parents, it pains us to hear that anyone has had a negative experience with our sunscreen… As with everything we do, we take sun protection seriously here at Honest.”
