It seems like only yesterday that Kim Kardashian was rumored to be banned from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. Then she showed up in 2013 wearing this. Since then the high-fashion floodgates have opened — Kardashian and her husband Kanye West landed a Vogue cover, sister Kendall Jenner is a Vogue staple (and Chanel model) and this year, the final barrier dropped: mom-ager Kris Jenner received her very own invite.

Oh, sure, none of them posed together. None of them even broke the selfie ban for one another (though they did do it with plenty of other celebrities). But all were unmistakably making a night of it in each other’s presence.

Kim, 34, wore a custom (and completely see-through, as is her wont) Roberto Cavalli gown — the first from Peter Dundas since he returned to the label. Kendall, 19, wore a completely bespoke Calvin Klein Collection gown in jade green embellishment with lacing up the sides. And Kris, timeless, brought her best ’80s impression in a ruched and shoulder-padded red gown with a bit of a fauxhawk.
