If you love him or hate him, the 5.7 million people who follow Joshua Ostrovsky — also known on the Internet as @TheFatJewish — definitely appreciate this celebrity’s polarizing style.
Despite claims that he has stolen other peoples jokes and profited off it, The Fat Jew has taken his success to off-line pursuits. He recently signed a deal with talent agency CAA and joined One Management as a male model. In addition to that, he serves as a spokesperson for Seamless alongside White Girls Problems’ Babe Walker, the co-founder of White Girl Rosé.
And now, The Fat Jew is taking his meme mastery to New York Fashion Week.
Already much-loved by the fashion community (he notoriously brought a bottle of White Girl Rosé to the CFDA Awards red carpet) — The Fat Jew will be debuting a Dad Bod-friendly collection of menswear appropriately titled “The Dad Collection”.
The event, which will take place at MADE’s studio at the Standard Hotel, will happen even though Ostrovsky himself is not a father. Claiming that the presentation will be “an eclectic collection of apparel,” The Dad Collection is the perfect fit for “the moods and personalities of dads of all ages.”
Slated to happen on September 16, Ostrovsky will be bringing his following and his talent to MADE studios, which has put on shows for everyone from Proenza Schouler to Alexander Wang. Jenné Lombardo, co-founder of MADE Fashion Week, says of The Fat Jew, “[Josh] has always been a visionary and that is something we welcome into the MADE family. I think the establishment would agree: his keen eye, ability to identify trends and the high probability that he has fathered a yet-to-be-identified child has always kept him at the forefront of culture.”
Aside from his appearance at NYFW, The Fat Jew told The New York Post that he has his eyes on participating in an underwear campaign. “I’d love to do briefs. I’d love to be oiled up looking super serious. Maybe I’m on a horse, and maybe it’s raining. Maybe I’m not oiled up. Maybe I’m just on a horse, and it’s raining and I’m naturally wet. I’m soaking wet.”
