Target Says ‘I’m Sorry’…Again, Owns Up To Photoshop Fail

target

Once again Target is down on bended knees. The retailer just can’t seem to catch a break as they’ve been stumbling their way through the year one misstep after another. Among the hits they’ve taken this year is their most ultimate fail to-date: a major photoshop error.  In an effort to achieve the ultimate thigh gap– on an already thin model, mind you– the retailer mangled the model’s nether regions and failed miserable. After coming under fire and scrutiny from the general public, they issued an mea culpa. Admitting to their mistake, Target spokesman Evan Miller told ABCNews, “it was an unfortunate error on our part and we apologize. We removed the image from the site and we’re working to get a new image up there.”

But with the thigh gap trend and thinspiration being such an issue, not only in the fashion world but in society on a whole, is their scripted apology sufficient? After all, someone didn’t simply fall asleep at the “photoshop wheel” and accidentally slice off a digit. Instead, it read like a concerted effort to play into and prey upon an unhealthy habit that many suffer from.

What are your thought?
