Dakota Johnson is the epitome of summer.
In her latest outing at the Gucci Resort 2016 presentation in New York City, Johnson was summer from head, t(he bob is the hairstyle of the summer), to toe (oxfords are so in FYI). It is also her lace mini with red ribbon that has totally inspired for summer style.
Lace can often times be overlooked during the summer months, but a great lace top, dress or even lace shorts can add texture and detailing to an otherwise simple summer outfit.
However, lace can be matronly if not done right, or even worse, you can look like a doily. When it comes to wearing the fabric be sure you avoid completely sheer pieces, or pair with a cami if needed, and less lace is more. Show off skin when you wear lace to avoid those grandma comparisons, and never wear a lace top with a lace bottom. There is such a thing as lace overkill.
Pair a denim shirt with a lace skirt, or for a chilly night, grab a leather jacket to go over that white lace dress. Or go with a bright colored lace, like yellow or coral.
And if you don’t want to go full lace like Johnson, you can opt for lace detailing, which is just as perfect for the summer.
