A$AP Rocky is having a pretty complex 2015. He’s already been featured on Complex, The Source, and Billboard, as his recent album — At. Long. Last. A$AP. sold more than 200,000 records. His legendary status is receiving an hefty uptick with his moves regarding his solo projects. And now, according to his manager, Chace Infinite, the rest of the world is going to belong to the A$AP Mob.

Earlier last week, Chace took to Instagram to tease the upcoming collaborative partnership between the Harlem crew and fashion mainstay Guess. The image, which you can see above, was captioned by Chace, where he wrote, “GUE$$ Who’s Back…,” and features side-by-side photos of A$AP Rocky and A$AP Nast rocking Guess-branded gear. The long-sleeve tee and pullover hoodie are emblazoned with the iconic triangle logo with dollar signs replacing the S’s in Guess.

The Hip-Hop collective, if you didn’t already know, has been at the forefront of the new-age merging of rap culture with high couture for years now. From his highly publicized relationship with Raf Simons to his extensive Martin Margiela collection, the A$AP Collective all share a similar interest in music, fashion, style and art that have separated them from the pack. While details about the upcoming Guess x A$AP partnership sparse, the move marks an interesting shift in Rocky and his cohorts “fashion killa” status.

Specifically, Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, has been a significant style star in the rap game since going the Kanye West route of wearing a “dress” during an appearance on BET’s 106 & Park. He pressed people’s buttons which got them all talking about his “style,” while the Harlem kingpin was plotting his next move with Jeremy Scott. The duo released a capsule collection for Adidas in 2013 and from that point on it was front-row at Fashion Week for A$AP Rocky. There have been numerous posts dedicated to all the fashion and style references used by the 20-something-year-old rapper.

Undoubtedly, A$AP Mob has held the title of New York’s best-dressed crew with A$AP Rocky as its leading man. Along the way, Rocky has gone from the kid with the twisted-up braids who wore a ton of Black Scale to a young maven who gave Hood by Air life and made it ultra-wavy to experiment with streetwear pieces and high fashion brands. Nowadays, Rocky, and to an extent members of the A$AP Mob, know what works fashionably. Rocky knows how to dress and wear outfits that command the people’s (and paparazzi’s) attention, and we’re not mad about it at all. As he’s the guy everyone in the room is usually talking about, the Guess x A$AP Mob collaboration is a chess move that makes it more and more acceptable for other rappers to try out a look or brand people would’ve dismissed years ago.

In light of the full details, the next phase of A$AP Mob’s fashion evolution means to be a hybrid mix of the new, the flavorful, and the throwback cool aesthetic that we’ve all come to know and love from Harlem’s dopest.
