The Brand Urban Wear Clothing Store: Baltimore’s Beacon of Light

1924 Music Group is impacting the music business in a major way. Outside of being a beacon of light to the city of Baltimore, Maryland, they are signing the next era of superstars including Qui Qui Martin, Yung Inkky, TSO Tadoe, and Lor Sosa. As all of the acts under the label are Baltimore natives including founders of the label Jay and Ivory Hawthrone (brothers), the entire 1924 team under the importance of giving back to the community beyond the music. That is the reason why the Hawthorne brothers opened up The Brand Urban Wear Clothing Store.

Not only are they creating jobs and mentorship for residents in their community, they have made this venture along with 1924 Vice President Malcolm Allen, & general manager Walleed, a family affair. Helping several family members dream of working with a respectable brand and bringing some of their creative ideas to life with the store, this independent label is showing what it means to never forget where you come from. I spoke with Ivory Hawthorne about being a force in a city that is ridiculed by violence and poverty, and he stated “It is my job to give back to my community as it has given so much to me and my entire family. If people see us doing what we do and making it to the top and uplifting everyone around us, they will know they can do the same things. The Brand Clothing Store is another way I will secure generational wealth for my family and teach others to do the same.”

The Brand Urban Wear Clothing Store has three locations. Two are located in Maryland and the other is located in Raleigh, North Carolina in the Triangle Town Center mall.
