Amazon Is Making It’s Big Move On Fashion, Now With Net-a-Porter

Maybe this is the year that Amazon plans to take over fashion.  Let’s be clear, Amazon is already in the fashion game. They own ShopBop as well as East Dane. Plus of course there’s MyHabit. East Dane for one had a pretty great year last year and celebrated their birthday with an outstanding series of collaborations. And now they are upping the ante.

The first big announcement they named was in menswear. They were announced as sponsors of New York Men’s Fashion Week. It could be a very big deal, putting them on what is hoped to become an international stage of influence. We’re sure it’s costing them a pretty penny but we’re entirely grateful for it.

And now, their next announcement.  Well it’s not really an announcement as much as it is a report. Amazon is apparently in talks to buy out Net-A-Porter.Replete with it’s own sites that include Net-a-Porter, The Outnet and Mr Porter, the buy would be quite a coup! Though we are certainly wondering whether or not this would spell the end of ShopBop and East Dane, we will certainly watch the developments. Reports that Net-A-Porter is being valued at a cool $2.2 billion. No chump change here!
