Azealia Banks and Common will reportedly star in a new film directed by RZA. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s a musical drama called It Doesn’t Have to Rhyme. It’s set to begin shooting this week in New York.

The film is the story of a female rapper who signs up for a poetry course in college and becomes interested in slam poetry. The film also stars Jill Scott. The Reporter compares the movie to 8 Mile.

Previously, RZA directed the kung-fu movie The Man With the Iron Fists. Watch him talk about that film with Pitchfork.tv below.
