Blazin’ Beauty Quiz: LAVAUD
This is Estelle Lavaud, but she goes by the name LAVAUD.
She’s a 21-year-old R&B singer from Hackney, London. Her parents are from the African island of Mauritius. She has a beautiful voice, and a great sense of style. What stands out most about this talent is how much her culture informs her identity.
“I grew up surrounded by music of all genres,” she told Singers Room. “My father is my biggest influence, he is an amazing musician, and I was exposed to so much learning from him. I listened to Sega, a traditional Mauritian sound, also influenced by greats like Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Bob Marley and Beyonce.”

1. If my personality were a lipstick shade it would be called: Magnetic Rose, because it would have all the beauty of a rose, slowly drawing people in.
2. My biggest beauty indulgence is: I love a good old manicure. I’ve learned how to do just about everything with long nails, so it’s definitely a manicure for me.
3. The cheapest beauty product in my bag is: Everything. [chuckles] Joking! Umm… probably my body shop Strawberry lip gloss, if not that lip liner from M.A.C.
4. Glammed Up or Au Naturale? AU NATURALE BABY —with concealer of course!
5. The best piece of beauty advice I’ve ever received is: Be the best version of you and always wear your skin better than you wear makeup, because your smile is your makeup (Mama’s advice). Oh, and always put banana powder on after applying liquid NARS concealer. Saved my life!
6. Three items I never leave home without are: iPhone (selfies are a must). Lip Gloss and Perfume.
7. My hair crush is: And why: I can’t really choose cause everyone is killing it right now… everyone is so beautiful. But if I have to pick it would have to be Rihanna because Rihanna is always inventing and reinventing and she kills every single look. That’s key I believe, just be fearless, beauty is an attitude.
