Brooklyn’s L’or Tackles On The Issue of Mental Health with Her New Single “Falling Under” | @theegold_

Brooklyn’s R&B/Pop artist L’ôr will be releasing her blazing new single “Falling Under,” a feel good Alternative R&B track letting the world know how to overcome Mental Health and/or Depression. L’or states that “Falling Under” was the hardest for her to write. In the Black community, mental health has always been some sort of taboo due to the negative stigma surrounding the issue. Instead of seeking professional help for conditions such as depression and anxiety, many in the community resort to drugs, opioids, alcohol or isolation in an attempt to solve their problems on their own. It’s interesting to read that African Americans living at or below poverty are three times more likely to report serious psychological distress than those living in poverty. We are also 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems than the rest of the general population, but the harsh truth still remains that many Black people are still in denial, shame, or lack knowledge on the subject. The multi talented artist is deciding face the issue head on with not only her inspirational track, but also a campaign for Mental Health Recovery’s PSAs that have been developed by the U.S Department of Health and Human Service and the AD Council. The campaign PSAs are targeted particularly to high school and college-age youth-who can make a difference by reaching out to friends and family members to get help when they need it. Suicide, is the third largest cause of death for young people age 18-50, usually involves mental illness. Her goal is to feed the masses and make a mark in the culture with her musical skills. All L’ôr’s music is personally driven by her own life story. After all, who can tell it better than she can? “Falling Under” is available for pre-order now on iTunes. The single drops February 1st. Check out more on L’or on Facebook, Twitter, IG and her website.

Mobby Rosas – “Up To Sum” f/ Westside Boogie (Video) + “The 4th Step” (Album)

The track “up to sum” is one of my favorite stories of how a collaboration came about. WESTSIDE BOOGIE had posted an open verse challenge for his song “Mood” on instagram and I picked it up. I’ve done a few open verse challenges before, to no favorable outcome other than just posting more content. I didn’t think much would come of this verse entry. I recorded my video audition for the song while at work, I was a server at a hotel restaurant in downtown LA, in uniform and all. I posted it and tagged WS Boogie and to my surprise, he DM’d me saying that he thought my verse was hard and if I ever wanted him on a project, he was down. I remember reading the message at work and being in shock. I had wanted to work with WS Boogie for years and had even tried to reach out in the past, to no response. I immediately hopped on the opportunity to.
