As a naturalista, one quickly learns that their shampoo routine will out grow the normal guidelines for those with processed and/or straight tresses.

Over shampooing can cause tight, brittle locks, so typically, curly girls won’t do it as often to avoid stripping their follicles of the essential oils and nutrients. Although the hair naturally creates its own oils, we enjoy adding more with our favorite products, treatments and stylers. Product usage can become a problem when finding the balance between using the products you love and being sure to remove build up from the scalp and hair.

A lot of product equals a lot of stubborn removal. Hair cleansing, however, doesn’t always equate to whipping out the foamy shampoo. The natural world has come a long way with other innovative ways to cleanse the hair of build up.

Dry Shampoo

Have you heard that dry shampoos are only for straight haired girls? Don’t believe the hype! Curly girls can use them, too (just not as often). Using a dry shampoo a couple days into your desired style, especially twist outs, will add volume while freeing your scalp of product.
