Singer/Songwriter D. Folks has released a soulful new single titled “The Truth”. Hailing from the historic city of Richmond, Virginia, he is putting on for his city in a major way. With this release, listeners get a chance to hear how musical gifted Folks is, as he pours his heart and soul out on this single.

D. Folks reminds us that even though “the truth” hurts, without trust you have nothing in a relationship. Some lyrics that stands out the most are “In the morning when I awake, I watch you while you sleep, wondering what went wrong can we fix it for we leave”. These raw bars play into his heart, and merit as a musician who speaks from the soul, with pure honesty.

Produced by Reginald “Regg”Smith and co-written by Rio Bridges & Eric Penn this is by far the Virginia native’s most impressive release to date. Additional Background vocals were provided by Kia Bennett (D. Folks’ sister) helping his original sound thrive even more so.

When asked why this record is so special Folks responded “This record is special to me because although I’ve worked with Regg, Rio, and Eric on different occasions, it was incredible to put all of their talents together on this one track. Also my sister Kia Bennett joined me on the hook and bridge. This was the first time I’ve recorded with my sister. Definitely an awesome moment”. Family is very important to him and this song is a direct reflection of that.

As D. Folks continues to make strides as a soul singer in the music business, do me a favor and press play below to stream his new “The Truth” single.

Mobby Rosas – “Up To Sum” f/ Westside Boogie (Video) + “The 4th Step” (Album)

Published

The track “up to sum” is one of my favorite stories of how a collaboration came about. WESTSIDE BOOGIE had posted an open verse challenge for his song “Mood” on instagram and I picked it up. I’ve done a few open verse challenges before, to no favorable outcome other than just posting more content. I didn’t think much would come of this verse entry. I recorded my video audition for the song while at work, I was a server at a hotel restaurant in downtown LA, in uniform and all. I posted it and tagged WS Boogie and to my surprise, he DM’d me saying that he thought my verse was hard and if I ever wanted him on a project, he was down. I remember reading the message at work and being in shock. I had wanted to work with WS Boogie for years and had even tried to reach out in the past, to no response. I immediately hopped on the opportunity to.
