While you’re staring at Beyoncé, I just want you to know that ‘Yoncé, just like LeBron James also wrote an article for The Shriver Report: A Woman’s Nation Pushes Back from the Brink, on gender equality entitled, Gender Equality Is A Myth. In the essay, Mrs. Carter suggests that gender equality will only come about when men begin to stand up for women:

Men have to demand that their wives, daughters, mothers, and sisters earn more—commensurate with their qualifications and not their gender.

I’m a let you see more of Beyonce (below), but I’m hoping subliminally her words will also connect with you.

Humanity requires both men and women, and we are equally important and need one another. So why are we viewed as less than equal? These old attitudes are drilled into us from the very beginning. We have to teach our boys the rules of equality and respect, so that as they grow up, gender equality becomes a natural way of life. Beyonce is definitely changing the face of feminism, and I expect there will be more in depth articles written in response to Beyonce by academia deconstructing her words with her Instagram photos. But what they fail to understand is that we need more high profile women planting seeds of knowledge, and the role of women in our world is constantly expanding. So go ahead Queen Bey, and roar.
