Fifth Harmony Takes Us Behind the Scenes of Their First Candie’s Campaign!

How do you top your own Barbie dolls? With an equally eye-catching ad campaign. The musical group is following in the well-heeled footsteps of former Candie’s girls (including Britney Spears, Vanessa Hudgens, Lea Michele, Bella Thorne), and they invited us to the shoot to watch them pose (and talk about all things fashion).

Even though the stars love to coordinate their onstage and red carpet styles, off-duty, they all have their own individuality. “I’m a little bit more sporty,”  Dinah-Jane Hansen tells PEOPLE. “Mani [Normani] loves sparkles and glam, Camila is a little bit more preppy and loves her bows, Lauren has more of a rocker style and Ally is girly and loves being versatile.”

And they’ve learned to translate their personality into their group looks. “We might all be in black dresses but our stylist [Bobby Wesley] will add a bow for Camila, or a black choker for me, some sparkle for Normani,” Lauren Jauregui says. “The matching outfits look great and we get to keep our individual style.” (Says Camilla Cabello, “Whether it’s a texture or a print, we wear different aspects of it to reflect it in different ways.”)

But surely, one girl in the group must have the most-raided closet — and they all agree it’s Normani, who laughs off the compliment: “If I gave everyone my advice we’d all be in sparkles!” she says. “The girls all have their own individual stylees. We help each other out sometimes but we’re pretty independent when it comes to our style and looks. I’m just known in the group for loving fashion. It’s a passion of mine.”

Even with all their style experience, the Candie’s campaign is a big one for them. “It’s so cool!” Ally says. “I’ve seen so many amazing artists and actors be a part of this campaign. I especially watched Hayden Panettiere, Hilary Duff, Britney Spears, so it’s such an honor for me to be a part of a Candie’s campaign. For me, it really encourages young girls to be themselves.”

Speaking of closet raids — anything the girls wanted to take from set? Camila had her eye on a few of the frocks. “Dresses are just so easy. They make you feel dressed up and girly without much effort,” she says.

Candie’s is sold exclusively at Kohl’s and the styles seen on Fifth Harmony will be available in July.
