I had no idea I was doing it wrong.
When I was gifted an air plant last year at a press event, I definitely didn’t realize the thing was living. Looking more like green decor than an actual living-breathing plant, it took more time to hang it on our living room wall than for me to throw it out.
Needless to say, I now feel horrible.
After doing research (which I should have done before) I realize that air plants are meant to grow — and live — without soil. With over 650 different species of the Tillandsia, it’s something of beauty for whatever style of home you have. They’ve become a very trendy home item that look best when hung in groups.
