Fraternity Gets Shut Down Over Racist "Black Out" MLK Party

The Arizona State University chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity has been suspended by the school after pictures surfaced from an “MLK Black Party” put on by the frat. You would think that whoever organized the shindig had to know, just had to know, that it was an awful idea. Alas, people had no problem sharing pics from the event on social media.

Photos snapped at the party and posted to Instagram show partygoers, all of whom are White, decked out in sports jerseys, flashing gang signs, and most appallingly, drinking from watermelon cups.

A spokesman for the frat, who only identified himself as Cole, refused to comment on the party or subsequent investigation. Instead, he directed local affiliate CBS 5 to contact the fraternity’s national organization for comment.

A rep for the national TKE organization told Phoenix’s KPHO-TV that there will be consequences.

“They obviously need to be checked on what they’re doing, how they’re acting and how they’re presenting themselves,” the rep said.

You can check out a few pics from the party up top.
