With Juneteenth officially becoming an national holiday on June 19th, and Derek Chauvin being sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for the murder of George Floyd, three rising artists by the name of Grace Covington, TWyse, & Holy Smokes joined forces to releases a woke new single and video titled “Powerful”. Linking up in Richmond, Virginia these three creatives are sparking change, unity and togetherness in a sonically and visually appeasing manner for the masses to tap into.

In order to make sure that the general public sees their vision behind “Powerful” single Grace, TWyse and Holy Smokes candidly created a video that depicts their passion and desire for uplifting the black community. Grace does an amazing job of holding her own with her lethal tongue, while the fellas entrap you in an array of memorable punchlines and bars.

You get a chance to see how the three interact on camera together visually and sonically. This video gives a better inside to how the three artists respect each other’s craft enough to not outshine each other to convey an “powerful” message. With the world still reeling from the Derek Chauvin verdict, material like this is timeless and needed now more than ever.

When asked about their feeling about the Chauvin verdict off of the heels of Juneteenth each artist gave me a candid response that you can find below:
TWyse: “22.5 years with a chance for freedom after serving 15 years. I know people that serviced that plus for non-violent offenses. No Justice No Peace; Know Justice Know Peace! “

Grace Covington: “Although initially I was happy to see to a cop finally being sentenced, 22.5 years is not enough. We have a long way to go.”

Holy Smoke: Holy Smokes quote “I believe the judge did his thing given all he had to work with was a second degree murder conviction, but my prayer is that the system keeps him there the full term as it has and does so many others for far lesser crimes than this.”

As they continue to be leaders in entertainment and activism, you can count on Grace Covington, TWyse, and Holy Smokes to be around for a very long time. Press play below to stream their new “Powerfulsingle and visual here.
