Sotheby’s an auction house for the high-rollers, this we know. What we didn’t? Even though the house was founded back in 1744, they’ve never had a high fashion auction. Crazy, no?! Well this summer, all that changes.

On July 8, Sotheby’s will forefoot an auction of 150 outfits and accessories of the high fashion variety. In Paris. Of course in Paris, it’s high fashion of the highest variety so where else would you host it? Well Didier Ludot, a fashion historian with his own vintage store, is the man behind it all.

From his personal collection, Ludot has pulled out special pieces made from 1924 to the early 2000s from the greats. We are talking Azzedine Alaia, Dior, Cartier, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Madame Gres, Cristobal Balenciaga, John Galliano and Comme des Garcons. It’s quite a tribute to French haute couture, a tribute to skill and definitely a tribute to beauty. One can only imagine how high the prices will go.
