Hunnid New Released – Want Me

Hunnid, Born and raised in Chicago by his single-parent mother, Jake acquired the name ‘Hunnid’ when a friend from a different side of town discovered that he was from 118th S. Eggleston. This neighborhood was an area dogged by crime and poverty, referred to by many as ‘The Wild, Wild Hundreds’.

Hunnid takes his listeners to a tropical beach with the Hip-hop, Afro-Beat, Pop Mix called “Want Me”.

The track blends meaningful lyrics and melodies, telling the story of a woman playing hard to get and Hunnid wanting her to know she can let her guard down and have her heart safe with him. Chicago, IL, August 20th, 2021.

Hunnid released “Want Me” on March 26, 2021. The song was written, recorded, and produced/ engineered in Hunnid’s hometown of Chicago, IL. With this track, Hunnid wanted to provide his listeners with a distinct and different sound, infusing hip-hop, afro-beat, and pop influences, while focusing on his strong female audience. The single has already gained much traction, with features on several International Blogs, such as Setemusic, Giro MPB, Unica Radio, Urban Gospel, with additional write-ups on the way.

The song really plants you right on the beach, overlooking the waves and drinking something fruity with an umbrella in it. At the core of this song, Hunnid takes the position of a man who knows a woman he is pursuing is playing hard to get.

He is trying to let her know she can let her guard down because her heart is safe with him. The meaningful lyrics and melodies blend well together, making this easy to sing and dance along to while also creating relatable content and bars.

The uniqueness of this really sets the track apart and lets it stand out from the rest. This track is positioned to do very well on platforms concentrating on Afro-beat or Hip-pop with a focus on the female listener, such as playlists, blogs, write-ups, and/or social posts. From then on, his nickname stuck with him. It would become his identity when he went on to gain rapid recognition in high school. This recognition began when Jake started spitting epic freestyles over heavy beats created by peers who would pound their fists on the lunch table in a melodic manner.

His flair for free-styling no doubt had a lot to do with his natural adeptness to write poetry, which once even led to a piece being published at only 10 years old. “Hunnid draws for us in rich detail life coming up on the Chicago’s Southside.

The gangs, the grind, the struggles, striving for self-improvement and ultimately keeping your head above water, and the poetry that comes out of those experiences. The video for the song features Hunnid rapping with a brisk cadence and packing so much content into each line with an impressive economy.

The insistent, dreamlike beat, a sample of warping guitar, shuffled claps, and clicks like drum sticks on a wooden block, accents Hunnid’s storytelling perfectly. Throughout the song there isn’t some kind of tough pose, rather an attempt at preserving sensitivity and not being inured to hardship by becoming hard oneself.

Hunnid is an award-winning urban artist, songwriter, producer, and engineer with many accolades already under his belt. Continuously raising the bar higher for himself, the one-man army is on a devoted mission to be the voice for those who are often silenced.

The way he manipulates the track flow and creates his own element of surprise to throw us off the scent, but it’s such a great track that leaves no ear left unheard. Do yourself a favor and take a sneak peak at “Want Me” by Hunnid.
