#LFW Runway Recap: Tom Ford Stays Glamorously Sexy For Spring 2015

When you watch a Chanel show, it’s not often that you see a runway bombarded with trends like you might see at another brand. Karl Lagerfeld churns out the tweeds he does best for the house with little inspirational riffs here and there but for the most part, the brand stands a little apart from a majority of the runway shows we see. As does the Tom Ford show.

When you start to talk about Tom Ford, there’s something you can’t avoid: sex. It was embedded in his time at Gucci, maybe pushed most widespread in an advertisement that featured the pubic hair of a female model shaved into the brand’s logo, kept up during his time at Yves Saint Laurent that predated the house’s current creative director Hedi Slimane and was in no way shied away from as the designer struck out on his own. It’s infused into almost every campaign, some featuring bare butt models laughing and playing by themselves, while another featured Ford himself with the models, snapping them with a towel, and it was infused in the collection for Spring 2015 with sheer tops, sequined pasties and thigh baring slits.

There’s a customer that Ford is speaking to, likely a similar or the same as that of the last two brands he headed, that doesn’t care as much about the tides of fashion as much as she does about portraying her life of luxury and her comfort in her own sexuality. Because of that, she has no qualms opting for a flared trouser as her go-to, and doesn’t blink twice when she steps into a room kohl-eyed, and with her hair teased while everyone else is pushing the bare-faced trend. She’s a woman of independence and luxury, and no she doesn’t really care what you think about her.
