Literary Reads: ‘Scandal’ Creator Shonda Rhimes Set To Write Her First Novel

Quite frankly, I’m surprised that screenwriter/director/producer/EVERYTHING! Shonda Rhimes hasn’t already released a book yet. With the massive success of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal, it’s no wonder that this opportunity presented itself.  Shonda just sent out a press release regarding her book deal for her first novel with publishing giant, Simon & Schuster.  The book will be sort of a memoir meets inspirational book, drawing from her life as a single, working mother of three children.

“Simon and Schuster is crazy for giving me a book deal as I am clearly in no position to be handing out wisdom,” said Rhimes.  ”But I have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother and as a working mother and as a sleepless mother and as a dating mother.  And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows.  So I’m going to write about that and hope my kids don’t use it against me in therapy later.”

I have a feeling that it’s going to be a huge hit.  And maybe even make it’s way into a film adaptation!  Favorite this story and let’s see what happens in the next few years.  The book is set for publication in 2015.  I’m sure that gives her plenty of time to write without getting in the way of any of her work on her TV shows.  Can’t wait!Similar Posts:
