M.I.A. has taken to Twitter to say that a planned music video is being prevented from release due to charges of “cultural appropriation.” “I’ve been told I can’t put out a video because it’s shot in Africa,” she wrote.
M.I.A. didn’t specify who was attempting to prevent the video from release, or what song it would be for. Earlier this month, she shared a demo for a new song called “Platforms”. The song, which was uploaded to her official Soundcloud, was subsequently removed.
