While a wave of protests erupted recently over the killing of George Floyd,New Jersey hip hop artist “OnlyJahmez” decided to drop a single titled“George Floyd (lil piggy)” in his honor, which crosses many socio-politicallines. The Clayton, New Jersey native is not only known for his creativeversatility, but his unique role as an activist in today’s society.
The song explores the mistreatment of people of color at the hands of thepolice in America. “OnlyJahmez” illustrates the need for a sense of communitybetween police and minorities, in order to find solidarity. The question is, whatcan be done to repair the cycle of mistrust between law enforcement and onesof color?
