Pitchfork Seeks Design Interns in Chicago

Pitchfork is looking for a summer graphic design intern to work in our Chicago office. The candidate will assist the design team in digital and print design tasks. This is a paid internship.

All candidates should be recent grads or students in an undergraduate graphic design program and be available 15-30 hours per week.

All candidates must have their own Mac laptop with Adobe CS5 or higher.

Responsibilities:

• Support and contribute to a variety of projects
• Work alongside other designers
• Ideate, design, and produce UI elements, revisions to current designs, banner ads, website graphics, presentation materials, logos, posters, signage, and more according to set deadlines and standards

Skills & Qualifications:
 

• Pursuing or obtained a bachelor’s degree in a graphic design
• A strong portfolio and an elevated sense of layout, form, color, and typography
• Up to date and interested in current trends in the design industry
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• A diverse set of illustration capabilities and an interest in photography
• An ever-learning attitude (meaning if you don’t know how to do something, you’ll have the drive to learn as you go and won’t be intimidated by asking questions)
• Doesn’t take constructive criticism personally
• Self-directed toward excellent work outcomes
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people
• Articulate presentation skills and an extreme attention to detail

You’d be working out of Pitchfork’s Chicago office in Logan Square and would report to the Pitchfork Design team wherever and whenever help is needed. We’re looking for someone who is good-humored, unpretentious, unafraid to share ideas, and eager to pitch in even when design is not a consideration.
