Over the weekend, Nepal’s capital was struck by a 7.9 magnitude earthquake, killing thousands and injuring countless more.

While the small country struggles with a growing death count and rebuilding after experiencing the worst earthquake in over 80 years, others from all around the world are joining together to do their part. While the fashion world is glamorous, it is also getting its hands dirty and reaching out to the region.

One designer going above and beyond is Prabal Gurung who launched a crowdrise page to raise $250,000 to go toward an earthquake relief fund. Gurung who is a Nepalese-American designer, the tragedy hits closer to home, and through his Shikshya Foundation Nepal, he hopes to do raise money to assist with medical support on the ground, emergency shelters and as the days progress assist with rebuilding and healing.

“The magnitude of the damage is still being assessed, but hundreds of buildings have collapsed including many homes and many of Nepal’s ancient and iconic temples and monuments,” Gurung wrote on his CrowdRise page for Nepal earthquake relief. “Your donations will go through my organization, Shikshya Foundation Nepal (www.shikshyafoundationnepal.org), and we will distribute 100% of the funds accordingly, based on the latest needs on the ground.”

As of today, he has reached 77 percent of his goal, raising over $190,000, but let’s help him reach and surpass his goal. To donate, click here.

As Gurung stated, ” Please donate generously and spread the word.”
