Beauty pageants are Often times dismissed as sexist displays of women that display unrealistic beauty expectations. However, when a woman of color takes home a title, these contests become a platform for change and diversity, yet that moment is fleeting. What exactly happens to a pageant winner when her reign ends? We caught up with Tiana Griggs, Miss Georgia USA 2014, to get the tea on women’s empowerment, self-care, her go to beauty products, and what she’s been up to since her reigning year ended.

I am a former beauty queen, model, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and image consultant at my company Crown Season. My love for the beauty and entertainment industry began at a young age; however, I was always too shy to pursue my passion. It wasn’t until I booked my first beauty campaign with Dark and Lovely that I began to realize how I could inspire the world through beauty. Now, I use my experience and resources to empower women and young girls to live out their dreams and strive for excellence on and off stage.
