If there is anything you would want to know about makeup and skincare, Tracy Davis is a human encyclopedia on all things beauty.

As a top-tier makeup artist, Tracy has perfected her craft, making her a coveted artist in Hollywood for over 15 years. Having worked with ELLE, Vogue, Vanity Fair, The Hollywood Reporter and many more publications, she’s knowledgable on glam makeup– but also knows her way around an everyday palette.

On everything from beauty secrets, skincare tips and career advice- read what Tracy had to tell StyleBlazer below.

On how her career began: “Twenty years ago, my interest in beauty was aroused by my mom who owned beauty salons in upstate New York. I would sell makeup in my mom’s salon and I would also do the clients’ makeup when they were under the dryer. I moved to New York City in college and was offered a job in Bloomingdale’s Lancôme beauty department. [From there] I was promoted at Saks Fifth Avenue as resident makeup artist and then promoted to national makeup artist for Lancôme, which put me on the national level of artistry. I was apart of their Blitz Beauty Team, as well. This allowed me to learn how to really become an extremely well-rounded artist in terms of skill, creativity and catering to the needs of individual women.”

So many people are jumping on the YouTube band wagon of trying to be an artist.

On how she transitioned into working with celebrities: “My first big client was actress Mira Sorvino, for the cover of a magazine, which was really big for me. At this time I was Bobbi Brown’s creative assistant for a number of years. Bobbi Brown was a person in my life that really helped me get ahead in this industry, I really enjoyed working with her. She really helped me grow into the artist I’ve become today. Since then, I’ve done makeup for actress Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Alicia Silverstone, Tisha Campbell, Halle Berry and more.”

On the makeup trick that she consistently uses on all of her clients: “A really good tip, when it comes to setting your makeup is using a primer with silicone and then apply the foundation. You won’t have to set with powder after. I also set the foundation with a primer after foundation application, to set it and it gives a natural, dewy glow.”

On the most important item to splurge on: “A good face serum. I say that because, skin is forever. You want to maintain the health of your skin; I think it’s good to splurge on skincare in general.”

On her personal aesthetic as a stylist: “What I try to stick to when it comes to creating someone’s individual look is making them look their personal best, to enhance what’s there in a way that no one else can.”

Mobby Rosas – “Up To Sum” f/ Westside Boogie (Video) + “The 4th Step” (Album)

Published

The track “up to sum” is one of my favorite stories of how a collaboration came about. WESTSIDE BOOGIE had posted an open verse challenge for his song “Mood” on instagram and I picked it up. I’ve done a few open verse challenges before, to no favorable outcome other than just posting more content. I didn’t think much would come of this verse entry. I recorded my video audition for the song while at work, I was a server at a hotel restaurant in downtown LA, in uniform and all. I posted it and tagged WS Boogie and to my surprise, he DM’d me saying that he thought my verse was hard and if I ever wanted him on a project, he was down. I remember reading the message at work and being in shock. I had wanted to work with WS Boogie for years and had even tried to reach out in the past, to no response. I immediately hopped on the opportunity to.
