See Katherine Heigl as a 16-Year-Old Model in Nicole Miller’s 1995 Fashion Show (Today’s High-Fashion #TBT!)
Long before Katherine Heigl played Izzy on Grey’s Anatomy (but about the same time that she played Alexia Wheaton in Wish Upon a Star), the actress moonlighted as a model — even landing the cover of Seventeen!. Now, she’s taking us back to her teen model days with an awesome 20-year-old Throwback Thursday post that brings us back to her catwalking days.
“#TBT 10/31/1995. Blink and you’ll miss it! My 16 year old self walking the runway at @nicolemillernyc fashion show with some famous faces. #spring1996collection. #Repost @bproductionsnyc with @repostapp,” the actress, 36, captioned the throwback video from 1995.
The short flashback clip features the then 16-year-old star strutting in Nicole Miller’s Spring/Summer 1996 show, wearing a strapless gray floral dress, bold purple eye shadow and one seriously wild updo. Even cooler? Fellow actresses Minnie Driver, Gina Gershon and Rebecca Gayheart also make guest appearances in the show.
And the designer remembers Heigl’s spotlight moment well. “I loved seeing Katherine in My Father the Hero with Gerard Depardieu, so I was excited for her to be in the show along with [the other celebrities],” Miller tells PEOPLE. “Katherine was bright, cheerful, and fun to work with. In preparation for the show, Katherine and the other actresses came over to my apartment to practice walking. While she was there, my dog stole Katherine’s snacks out of her mom’s purse and ran around the house with them!”

But don’t expect Heigl to revisit her runway days anytime soon. She says she’s happy to be where she is in her career today — and to leave her child modeling days behind her.
“Oh my god, it was brutal,” she previously told Anderson Cooper on an episode of Anderson. “You even understand it, even when you’re 9, you’re like, ‘This is silly and lame’ and they’re like, ‘No, no, it’s adorable, do it,” she said of posing for clients including Macy’s and Sears.
